School's Out for Summer...
I have officially made it through my first year of teaching. Thanks to a lot of help from my husband. I really don't think I would have made it through if he wasn't behind me every step of the way. I have to say, I didn't see a single other husband out there helping with the kids or finishing up projects, or just bringing me lunch to brighten my day as much as Matt was. He truly was there when I needed him most. But never so much as these past few days. I wasn't feeling the greatest, and Matt was out there both Thursday and Friday helping me to move my classroom and finish up all of the post planning madness! Thank goodness for wonderful husbands.
So now it's summer... time for the grand debate: Do I keep working at the surf, where I'm not getting the sections or the hours I want or do I just truly take the summer off like a normal teacher? I'm not sure what to do. The money helps us pay things off and can be a blessing, but not when I go in to sit and have crappy sections. I don't know. I'm going to get through this stint until Katie's wedding and maybe decide from there. Matt tells me I should just quit so I'm not miserable. I don't know what to do. I think I need to get used to not having to go into school before I make any decisions. After the hours I've been working, The Surf may feel like nothing.
And I get bored after not having anything to do.
Although, with all of the traveling that is starting, it's going to be crazy!! I love this crazy, tragic, sometimes almost magic... often beautiful LIFE!

Heading Into Summer...
As I wrap up my first year of teaching, I am gearing up for my first summer "off". I'm sure glad that I have the time off seeing that this summer I have three very important weddings to attend in different states! What makes the summer fun, is that I get to travel A LOT with my wonderful husband.
Matt makes traveling so fun because he researches EVERYTHING! Katie, my new "sister", will be the first wedding in June. We will leave June 9th for Tennessee. I think the wedding will be beautiful. Right afterward, Matt has planned a 3 day hike through the smokey mountain trail for us. You should see the gear he has gotten for us~ I never knew they made so many different trinkets and gadgets to make hiking easier. It hardly seems fair! :) I think it will be a wonderful new experience to share with Matt. I'm not sure that I am going to be good at hiking, but it's worth a try.
Today was a great day. I spent the morning shopping with Sarah, who has been a wonderful new friend since she's made her big move down to FL. Afterward, Matt and I headed down to River City Marketplace for some shopping and errands. Then we headed down for dinner at Keven and Erica's place. I got to spend some more time with baby Ellia and pick Erica's brain about the adventures in Mommy-hood. I still think Matt and I are planning to wait for AWHILE yet, but it is fun to play with the baby (when you can give her back!)
What makes today even better is that I have OFF tomorrow, Yes, that's right... A WHOLE DAY OFF and Matt even has off with me. I can't believe it. Hopefully the rain will hold off~

Our first "vacation" since the honeymoon....
Matt and I truly have a blessed life. It sure gets chaotic at times and it's hard being on opposite schedules, and now picking up a couple extra shifts at the Surf, but my sweetheart never fails to surprise me and make the best of the time that we do have together. This week is my Spring Break from teaching. It's still strange to be out of college and have a "Spring Break". To celebrate the time off, Matt found a "timeshare promotion" with Hilton Grande Vacations down in Orlando. So here we are, on our third day of a relaxing--do whatever we want--vacation in Orlando in a nice resort all for $99 and a 2 hour tour. We did the tour yesterday and it wasn't bad, and now we just get to enjoy our time.
Sometimes I'm still getting used to the idea that we are truly married and traveling together as a "family of two" as the tour guides call it. I never understood before now why everyone said small getaways together or vacations are vital to a marriage, but it's true. The weeks get so busy and we don't get the time to do the simple things in life..like drink coffee on the porch and read the morning paper. Don't get me wrong... I'm not complaining about our life, I'm just saying it's SO nice to be able to have the three or four days to relax with my husband and do nothing but what comes to mind.
The vacation has been amazing so far! Matt spoiled me on the way down here and let me stop at the coach outlet. I found a small signature purse on super clearance for $65 (which is still expensive for a purse) that I loved and Matt bought it and a wristlet for me! What an amazing start to a vacation and total surprise. Then we drove down to Orlando and found a cheesecake factory for lunch (yummy!). Afterwards we checked into our resort. It's a nice resort right by SeaWorld. So Monday night we went over to SeaWorld and saw Shamu Rocks show and walked around. The landscaping is so pretty there! It was nice to just stop in. There are some advantages to having a SeaWorld pass! :) Afterwards we drove around trying to decide what to have for dinner and ended up just doing a small meal at Moe's! Who can complain about a good burrito!
Yesterday was the best day ever! We woke up late and sat on the balcony and couch drinking coffee and just catching up on life. Then we made some lunch here in the room and went over to get our tour out of the way. It took a little longer than it was suppose to, but we did score a $50 gift card to Longhorn! Afterward we came back to the resort and just walked around talking. I love good conversations with Matt... and having the time to just relax! At 6:00 the FUN started! We got all dressed up and went down to CityWalk. We ate at Bubba Gumps and
had my favorite Hush Puppies and Shrimp Feast. Then we went over to Blue Man Group! What a performance! Our seats were 7 rows from the front and it was SO COOL! I'll remember that forever. I think it was Matt and I's first stage performance together!
Afterward we went to Karaoke Star, where you get to sing with a live band behind you. I got up and sang Man! I feel like a Woman! SO much fun. It really felt like a live performance! haha... I think that'll be my finale of Karaoke though!
This morning we've done virtually nothing, which is fabulous. I can't wait for just more time with Matt. Vacations really are important, and they don't have to be anything grand....but just time off with the people you love, away from the daily grind is so vital to building and maintaining a good relationship!

All in Order
Ahh...things are great! I finally organized the craft room in our house. It has been the local dumping zone, but now it's all neat and organized. Perfect for spending an afternoon like today relaxing and working on the computer or grading papers! :) SO happy!
Things have been going really well in Matt and I's relationship too! We're mastering this "working as a team" thing in the house! :) I think we're finally settling into our little patterns and habits! Life really couldn't get much better right now.
I sure do miss Grandpa though. I think of him often lately. I wish I could have spent so much more time with him, but as strange as it may sound I really do feel that he is watching over me and giving me hugs when I need them. I hear his crazy laugh all of the time in my head and it makes me smile....even when it hurts.
On Thursday we leave to California for Kevin's wedding... busy week!
